It is a delight to see a guy you used to hob-nob with at the local neighborhood association rise to national prominence. And even better when he is moving forward a critically important policy initiative.

Our own local hero Greg Casar is joining forces with Bernie Sanders sponsoring a bill to ban the big tech companies from producing AI products that humans cannot control.

It is more than about time! The rest of congress and the administration grovels before the power of the tech billionaires who tell us directly that they are producing something that threatens human survival. It is as though back in the 1950’s the US government had decided that nuclear weapons should be developed by private companies and the “captains of industry” should decide how to use them.

Thanks Greg and Bernie, it is some comfort to know that there is some sanity left in Washington.
